As the son of Canadian Olympian Ian Millar, Jonathon Millar was born into the world of show jumping. As a junior rider, Millar took Team Gold and Team Silver for Canada at the FEI North American Junior Riders Championship. Jonathon Millar and his horse Emir took many top Grand Prix placings leading him to be on the Canadian Developing Riders Team in 1997. Millar then took a riding position with Emile  Hendrix, of Stal Hendrix in the Netherlands where he started his next group of horses, Aftershock and Fine Line.

In 2000, following the Canadian Olympic Selection Trials, Millar started training with US Team rider Laura Kraut in Middleburg, Virginia, Millar was later named the first alternate to the Canadian team with Fine Line for the Sydney Olympic Games, 

Jonathon Millar made history in 2007 when he came second to his father in the Canadian Championship with his grey mare Fancy Hill by fractions of a second. His next top horse, Contino 14, made him a staple on the Canadian team joining top three placing Nations Cup Teams at the 2009 Promotional League Final in Barcelona, Spain, the 2010 Meadows ‘Masters’ Tournament in Calgary, Alberta, and the 2011 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fl. The pair also represented Canada at the 2010 World Show Jumping Championships where Canada finished 5th for their best result in almost 25 years as well as secured their spot at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. By 2011, Jonathon was the third-ranked rider in Canada.

In 2013 Jonathon started his partnership with Calvin Klein and the pair would go on to be a part of the winning Nations Cup team in Mexico for Canada as well as 13 top 10 placings in 2014. Bonzay and Davaeu were added to Millar’s team in 2016, where they continued to help Millar achieve top placings in Grand Prix classes, including a win in the 2019 $134,000 Brookstreet Grand Prix with Daveau.

In 2020, Jonathon and his wife Kelly Soleau-Millar decided to move to Wellington, FL full-time and started Millar Brooke South as the American branch of the iconic Millar Brooke Farm. Today, Jonathon competes with Isotropic Network Inc.'s Isotropic Shadow and Daveau in Grand Prixs around the country as well as riding client and young horses in nationally rated classes.
